About us!

Rut, is beyond wonderful, he is funny, caring, an amazingly talented cook (mmm...thinking about it makes me hungry), and is a self-proclaimed dog lover, that has an extreme soft spot for our cat, Loon!  He recently graduated with a Masters in Sustainable Design from Catholic University and is in pursuit of his dream career consulting architects, designers, and homeowners in the energy efficiency of their projects. He is an expert in energy modeling and has been certified as a LEED green associate. Prior to this he worked for 5 years in a laboratory in the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health. So, needless to say he has completely changed his career path but we are both very excited about what he plans to accomplish with his new degree!

I (Rachael), have a BA in Interior Design from Michigan State University and most recently passed the NCIDQ exam and am now officially a licensed Interior Designer. I have been working for AAI-Poggenpohl (a design, planning and construction firm) for the past three years. I handle all the purchasing and some of the design work for the most stunning, drool-worthy kitchens I have ever laid eyes on. I aspire to have one, one day, in which my "personal chef" can prepare delicious meals. Outside of design I work in the most fabulous boutique, Lou Lou, that is filled to the brim with an eclectic mix of women's accessories. When I am not working I enjoy designing my apartment, traveling and dreaming about traveling, cuddling with Loon, baking (with my new kitchen aid stand mixer!), and spending time with friends and family as often as possible.

Since Rut and I started dating 8 (almost 9 years ago) at Alma College, we have shared some of the most amazing memories; traveling, learning to snowboard, becoming Spartan Alumni, adopting the cutest cat in the world, to name a few. We are so excited to be getting married and to continue creating memories together for many more years!
